Product Designer Back Office
Come join us in making Auctionet even better! Be a part of the product development team at Auctionet that works to make "everyday antiques" and a sustainable lifestyle easily accessible for everyone.
Auctionet is a marketplace where auction houses from Sweden, the UK, Finland, Spain, Germany and Denmark sell furniture, art, design items, collectibles and more. We are a small, tight-knit Product & Development team, and are now in search of a Product Designer for our Back Office team.
About the work
The Back Office team is responsible for the systems used internally by our Auctionet colleagues. We collaborate closely with our colleagues in Finance, Payments and Customer Support. The ambition is to provide them with efficient, fit-for-purpose tools that makes their workday better. Our internal systems are key enablers for Auctionets growth and expansion into new markets.
A few examples of possible upcoming projects for the Back Office team that might give you a sense of what you'll be working on:
- Streamline and improve the workflow for returns and claims. The goal is a smooth, hassle-free experience.
- Make the workday for our colleagues at Finance and Payments better by improving their tools for recurring tasks such as payouts and reconciliation.
- Build new tools and workflows for risk assessment and fraud prevention.
About the team
We’re into modern technology and agile methodology. We try new things constantly and keep the things we like – such as user flow prototypes, cross-functional teams, and guilds where you discuss product design with fellow domain experts.
We operate mainly from our office in central Stockholm but the team works either hybrid or fully remote. In this role a hybrid work setup is preferable since the people using our internal systems work mainly at the Stockholm office. We believe that getting to know them will improve collaboration and make your workday feel more meaningful and fun.
We value your well-being, offering flexible work hours, discouraging overtime, and encouraging full use of your Wellness Grant or Wellness Hour. You'll enjoy six weeks of paid vacation, along with a work phone and the computer of your choice to help you excel. Beyond supporting your lifestyle, we’re committed to your growth. That’s why we provide a generous budget and time allowance for attending conferences or courses, so you can continue learning and advancing your skills.
About you
We believe that you are a person who asks the question "why?" a lot. You are not just taking requests at face value but you make sure that you understand the underlying need before jumping into action. You want to solve the right problem, not only deliver nice looking features.
We also believe that you are a person who thinks a lot about workflows and how to improve them. And of course, being a designer we believe you have an eye for detail and take pride in creating visual designs of high quality.
Furthermore, we're looking for a product designer who likes to take ownership over projects and take them from start to finish. You have the know-how to do basic research, are comfortable doing user tests and like to collaborate closely with the developers during implementation.
We also believe you have:
- Experience: At least some years of professional product design experience. An extra plus is if you have worked with business applications such as accounting software, customer services or operations management.
- Good communication skills: You can explain and motivate product design decisions to both technical and non-technical co-workers.
- Passion: You take pride in your work and want to deliver product design with high quality.
- A curious mindset: You are open to learning and sharing knowledge with others.
- A team player mentality: We are a small team and collaboration is key. You will work close to both the Product Owner and the developers. We succeed and we fail as a team.
Please note we are only accepting candidates resident in Sweden at this time.
If that is you, apply now! Got questions? Reach out to our team anytime.
Our recruitment process
We have a straight forward process without unpleasant surprises.
We'll start of with a short meet and greet just to get a feeling if we could be right for each other or not.
We then have a few meetings (usually two or three) where we talk about you, the role and Auctionet - and you get the chance to talk to the people you will work closely with. In the process, we'll discuss some of your existing work, and we will also ask you to do a small take-home exercise. We don't do "gotcha" whiteboard interviews.

We will be reviewing applications continuously but please submit your application no later than 2025-03-02.

In 2021 Auctionet acquired the auction house Stockholms Auktionsverk, and we are now by far the largest auction marketplace in the Nordics, and one of the larger auction marketplaces in the world. With this acquisition, Auctionet owns and operates both the oldest auction house in the world (1674) and the second oldest (1681), which means we have been working with sustainability for 350(!) years.
